
Our game is simply about a shrimp that is trapped in a time loop and is trying to escape. She keeps repeating the same day and has to find a way to break the loop.
The game comprises 3 levels with several interactable characters and objects.
The entire story is told via text-based dialog. The character has to make “decisions” that determine the outcome of the day.
We chose Unity as the engine because we already had experience with this engine and the focus was on realizing a game idea for this game jam.
We used Ink for the dialog system.
The game was developed within one week in the Brackeys Gamejam 2025.1. Our goal was to develop and implement a minimal game idea.
On the whole, this worked very well. However, there were delays in the completion of the game, which meant that teething problems in the dialog system were discovered too late. That’s why resetting the day doesn’t always work :( .
Nevertheless, we had a lot of fun developing the game.
